So.... you may have heard about The 1 Second Film's Road to Oprah tour by now... Goodness knows I've been talking about it enough.
You probably know that the Evangenitals are going to be the "road band" for The 1 Second Film's Road to Oprah tour, and we will be traveling over 10,000 miles in a bio-diesel school bus from October 4th - November 2nd, presenting and performing at Universities and house parties across the US and Canada -- final destination, Oprah Winfrey.
You may not have heard that we have received official invitations from both Google and YouTube to present and perform at their corporate headquarters next weekend. Also, Apple computers and Von Dutch have just come on board as "stuff" sponsors, donating editing equipment and software (Apple) and T-Shirts and marketing support (Von Dutch) for The 1 Second Film.
We have bought a school bus and are converting it to bio-diesel with sleeping cots and kitchen, awesome exterior paint job, credit-stand caboose, and a bunch of other down-home features that will help to make the experience of 8 people living together on a bus for a month a bearable one.
All of this has been accomplished with a lot of work, a lot of willingness, a good dose of insane idealism, and a LOT of dollar by dollar fund-raising in the form of selling producer credits for The 1 Second Film.
This is where you come in. :-)
Corporate sponsors are beginning to take notice and donate much needed gear and goods, colleges and universities are booking our traveling show to come to their school, more and more producers are coming on board every day... and we still need to raise about $20,000 to cover the food and most basic living expenses of our cast and crew.
The Evangenitals are taking a major chance by hitting the road, taking leave of well-paying jobs and loved ones. We're hoping that it pays off -- in the spiritual sense -- and doesn't crush us in the financial sense, either.
If you have been sitting on the fence in regards to getting yourself a producer credit on The 1 Second Film, I encourage you to act now and seal the deal. This is potentially the largest collaborative work of art ever created, and I would love for you to be a part of it.
You can create a producer profile and donate to the film here: http://the1secondfilm.com/donate
If you don't want a credit for yourself, for whatever reason, you can help the Evangenitals move up the credit-listing ranks by donating through OUR profile!
Check it out:
http://the1secondfilm.com/producer/7226
Your support of The 1 Second Film will be like buying us all a hot meal on the Road to Oprah, and helping us spread the Evangenitals love all over the 10,000 miles of road that we are going to cover on this journey.
If you'd like to make your support a little more direct, you could always buy an Evangenitals album (http://cdbaby.com/cd/evangenitals), download our music off iTunes, or simply send us a few bucks in the mail. We take checks! :-)
IN OTHER NEWS...
If you are located anywhere along the Road to Oprah, we hope to see you on our travels! We are setting up shows and presentations every step of the way and we're always looking for volunteers, coordinators, other artists to perform with, and an audience to perform for.
Please check out the Road to Oprah map and schedule to see if we're coming to your town, and let me know if you'd like to help out, perform, or participate!

Thanks for being a friend of the Evangenitals. We truly would not have the balls to take this trip if it wasn't for all the love and support the Evangenitals have received from folks like you. I hope to see you soon!
Much Love,

I just got home from the El Cid show and I've already uploaded the photos for your viewing pleasure!
It was a great, short, barn-burner set. I wore my long-sleeved cowboy shirt and paid the price by getting some sweaty pits from all my running about.
I figure it proves I was working hard. :-)
Thanks to those of you who came out to the show, played along, and for all the hooting and hollering.
If you missed it, this photo set (taken by Patrick Ian Moore) actually gives a pretty good idea of just what went on over there.
Hope to see you all next weekend at the Old Towne Pub. Until then, please enjoy, comment on, spread around all these Evangenitals pics that I've been obsessively uploading onto Flickr.
Love,
Juli & the Evangenitals

The Evangenitals take over Universal Citywalk with Rock Sermon
Former employees of a sex toy company have joined together in musical harmony to spread the gospel of love in the form of alt-country, indie-pop, psychedelic rock, acoustic ballad, folk tunes. Universal Citywalk has the cojones to let them close out their summer music series.

Did ya hear??
I finally posted the wild and wonderful photos from The 1 Second Film's "Road to Oprah" fundraiser that took place at Mr T's Bowl in Highland Park, Los Angeles, California, USA.
Vermouth, Cousin Junebug, Ollin, 8 Bit, and the Evangenitals all threw down the music and mayhem at this awesome event... and if you watch the slideshow in fast motion while listening to Gasoline, it almost feels like you're at an Evangenitals show!
Thanks to Patrick Ian Moore for taking all the pictures. :-)

Top of the morning to you!
The last time we played Molly Malone's, a bunch of you turned out to see a legendary set on amazing stage with great sound and successfully helped us to win our spot as "Lords of Hollywood" for a day. JT the booker was so pleased he has invited us back for another dose of Evangenital joy, this Saturday night!
Now, here's the catch: we want to out-do the last appearance. So
I've got a proposition for you: if we draw 50+ people to Molly Malone's to see the Evangenitals practice their A-game for the upcoming Universal City gig and Road to Oprah tour I hereby declare that I, Juli Crockett, will have a star in the HEAVENS ABOVE named EVANGENITALS in your honor. Our own STAR, people! That will help
when the earth shakes us off its back like a bad case of fleas. We can all go to our STAR!
Mark my words! And mark the time to our tunes with snapping fingers,
bobbing heads, and dancing feet at our triumphant return to Molly
Malones THIS SATURDAY NIGHT:
This Saturday, August 11th, at 11pm
Evangenitals @ Molly Malones
575 South Fairfax Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90036
$6
Full line up:
8:00 David Courtney, 9:00 Doschus, 10:00 Bruce Beacom...
And the ones that truly love you: The Evangenitals (11PM)
And heck, here's an Irish Blessing for the road, to guide your way to
the Evangenitals at Molly Malones:
Walls for the wind,
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks beside the fire -
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire!
If you live far away and/or have some REALLY GOOD REASON why you won't help us get a STAR for us all to immigrate to (should the
need/desire arrive) you can help us in another way...
By donating $1 or more to The 1 Second Film
(http://www.the1secondfilm.com) you will be helping to finance our
Road to Oprah tour, which commences on September 19th. We need all kinds of help, and we very well may be coming to a town near you, so please visit the Road to Oprah website and check out the tour route and other fun ways you can help out: http://www.roadtooprah.com

The Hero's Journey
1. A call to adventure, which the hero has to accept or decline
2. A road of trials, regarding which the hero succeeds or fails
3. Achieving the goal or "boon," which often results in important self-knowledge
4. A return to the ordinary world, again as to which the hero can succeed or fail
5. Application of the boon, in which what the hero has gained can be used to improve the world

Dearest Friends of the Evangenitals,
This Saturday night, from 9pm to 2am, the Evangenitals are hosting a concert/party/fundraiser @ Mr. T's Bowl in Highland Park for The 1 Second Film's "Road Trip to Oprah". It's only $5 at the door, and there's so many great bands playing the joint might just explode from all the seething talent.
Just check out this radical flier by Patrick Ian Moore!

If you haven't heard yet, the "Road to Oprah" is a sure-to-be-legendary adventure in which the Evangenitals (traveling as The Love Punks) will be joining The 1 Second Film's documentary crew on a 45-day bio-diesel journey across America. We leave L.A. mid-September and will be visiting San Fran, New Orleans, Miami, NY, and many other cities along the way, stopping at universities and house parties to present the 1 Second Film project and perform sweet, sweet music whilst composing an on-the-road companion album for the film.
The trip will end in Chicago, where we hope to ask Oprah for $1 to help produce The 1 Second Film. We will be fundraising over the summer to make the trip a reality, starting this Saturday @ Mr. T's Bowl. So, in effect, by supporting the 1 Second Film, you can help the Evangenitals to get on Oprah... or at least get a whole lot of exposure on the Road to the Big O!
Here's the Lineup:
Vermouth (9pm)
The Evangenitals (10pm)
The Natural Disasters (11pm)
Cousin Junebug (11:45pm)
Ollin (12:30am)
8 Bit (1:15am)
All going down on
Saturday, June 23rd
at
Mr. T's Bowl
5621 1/2 FIGUEROA ST
Highland Park, CA 90041
$5 at the door. Proceeds from the party will benefit our Road Trip. The door money can also be put toward your producer credit. That's right, come to the show on Saturday night, and you are officially a Hollywood Movie Producer. No kidding. The 1 Second Film is even on IMDB. Kevin Bacon's a producer. You could be 1 degree from Kevin Bacon! How's that for a way to spend your Saturday evening?
We need to raise $11K ASAP to buy an old school bus so we can convert it to bio-diesel and ready it for the trip. This Saturday will be a fun start.
Hope you can make it, and please pass this on to folks who give a damn.
All my nuggets,
Juli of the Genitals

Hello Sponsors!
If you know someone who might like to sponsor The 1 Second Film's Road to Oprah, we will be hand painting sponsor names/logos on our bus, plus featuring sponsors on our website, at parties along the way, and in our documentary. I grabbed this from the 1 Second Film's Flickr gallery of pictures from the Lummis Day Festival, where the Evangenitals rocked the park and the 1 Second Film crew worked on signing up new producers and fundraising for our Road Trip to Oprah this Fall. :-)
Pictured: Lisa, Juli, George, Bryan, and Chesney of the Evangenitals proudly display the Road To Oprah sign in from of the 1 Second Film "lemonade stand" with Nirvan and Levi from the 1 Second Film, whom we will be traveling with for 45 days in a biodiesel schoolbus starting Sept. 12th.

In the last 48 hours I have interviewed to direct a new play (and gotten the job), stayed up late working with Nirvan Mullick from The 1 Second Film on creating the Road To Oprah Myspace profile and other planning for the Love Punks/1 Second Film road trip this fall, woke up early this morning to appear on TWO morning news show (Fox Channel 11 and KTLA), did an interview with KPFK about the Evangenitals and our performance at the Lummis Day Festival, and I went on a date to the Pirate of the Carribean 3 at El Capitan, where we had VIP seats and an awesome audience that was totally in the swashbuckling spirit.
Oh yeah, and there was a giant, and I mean GIANT, photo of the Evangenitals in the Pasadena Weekly today. So, the Evangenitals were in newspapers, on the radio, and on TV... all within in 24 hours. I dig it. Awesome, I say!
So, I'm feeling rather, as the saying goes, "Thank you Sir, may I have another" about things right now. Except for the cold. I'd like to give this stinky cold back, and keep all the good energy that seems to be surrounding all things Evangenital right now.
In short, it's been a good, long, wonderful day and I'm digging it.

Wish Us Luck! (In Person!) :-)
Tonight (Saturday May 19th) at 11pm the Evangenitals will play at
Molly Malones for the first time.
It will also be the first time that I, Juli Crockett, have performed
an Evangenitals/Evangina show without my harmonic co-Genital Lisa
Dee.
Why, you ask? Well, Lisa Dee is up in San Francisco RIGHT NOW
registering to run in the Bay to Breakers marathon tomorrow morning!
We, the Evangenitals, however are not just a physical band, but a
spiritual one as well... so though an Evangenital may not be with us
in the flesh, they are always with us in spirit.
So, if possible, come on out tonight and help us channel the spirit
of Lisa Dee (and George Bernardo, too, as he's off playing another gig
tonight as well!) at Molly Malones.
Juli could use all the love that can fit in the joint. And so could
Brett, as he'll be singing some songs and chiming in on the Harmony
Express.
This unique lineup consisting of Jason Chesney on Bass, Bryan Landers
on Banjo, Dave "Salad" Salardino on Drums, Brett Lyda on Lead Guitar
and Vocals, and Juli Crockett with Red Hair, Rhythm Guitar, and
Schizophrenic Vocals is not to be missed.

Evangenitals Join June 3 Lummis Day Festival Line-Up
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Evangenitals, whose witty and highly original alt-country hillbilly rock sound has attracted a loyal following in the So Cal club scene, will join the eclectic lineup of musical performers at the June 3 Lummis Day: The Festival of Northeast L.A.
The band, which played its first gigs at Highland Park's Mr. T's Bowl, will perform on the Sousa-Hiner bandshell at Sycamore Grove Park (4900 N. Figueroa Street) along with top east side ensembles Quetzal, Ollin and the Susie Hansen Latin Band.
The Evangenitals recorded their first indie collection, "We Are The Evangenitals" in 2005. Their sound has been described by Musician Magazine as "..like the Dixie Chicks being beaten with their own guitars at the playful hands of the Violent Femmes."
The band's sophomore CD will be released in the summer of 2007.
The Evangenitals are Juli Crockett, principal songwriter, on kid guitar, lead vocals and kazoo; Lisa Dee on nylon guitar, harmonies and heavy breathing; Brett Lyda on lead guitar, lap steel, Casio and vocals; George Bernardo on drums, shakers, ooohs and ahhhs; and Jason Chesney on bass, guitar and pots and pans. The group is frequently augmented by Brian Landers on pedal steel and electric banjo; Dave "Salad" Salardino on mandolin, ukulele and banjo; and Zoe Moss on accordion.
Admission to all Lummis Day events--at Lummis Home and Sycamore Grove Park--is free. The Festival, a celebration of the city's diverse culture and rich history, will be presented by Occidental College and will begin with an 11:00 am poetry reading at Lummis Home and will continue at 12:30 pm in Sycamore Grove Park, where music, dance performances, puppetry, art exhibitions and food service will continue through 7:00 pm.
